Anti-Tat Ab negative vaccinees had a reduction of borderline significance at year 3, possibly explained by the fact that most of these subjects (76%) had Tat-specific cellular responses.

Further, the 30 μg, 3x vaccine regimen induced the highest HIV-1 DNA decay, however, also the 7.5 μg, 5x showed statistically significant HIV-1 DNA decreases at year 3, whereas the 30 μg, 5x showed a trend only at year 2, whereas no significant changes were observed in 7.5 μg, 3x group (Table 8 ).
This was associated with decreases of naïve and effector memory T cells (Tem), which, however, in most cases did not reach statistical significance (Figure 7 A).
