The importance of the sulfatase pathway is also supported by the previously reported 5-fold lower expression of SULT1E1 as compared to STS and decreased mRNA levels of SULT1E1 in 27 out of 38 EC samples from the same cohort, where this difference did not reach statistical significance (Hevir et al., 2011b ) and also by significantly increased ratio between STS and SULT1E1 in EC.
