Baseline depressive symptoms were significantly associated with all-cause mortality (aHR 1.18, 95% CI 1.07 to 1.29) and non-CVD death (aHR 1.21, 95% CI 1.08 to 1.36) and approached significance for CVD death (aHR 1.10, 95% CI 0.94 to 1.29) and cancer death (aHR 1.12, 95% CI 0.93 to 1.36), even in the exploratory models (model 3).
