In combination with earlier studies that revealed a negative trend in the adjacent pressure range from 5–25 kbar (Baron et al. 2015 ; Frigo et al. 2016 ), the new data indicate a narrow interval of highly favourable pressure conditions for OH defect incorporation in quartz at 4–5 kbar.
