In this study, we focused on miR‐499‐5p, a miRNA which after correction for multiple testing showed a nominally significant association with BD in a recent GWAS (Forstner et al , 2015 ).
The same treatment led to reduced Cacnb2 protein levels as assessed by Western blot, although the difference between miR‐499‐5p mimic and control transfected neurons did not reach statistical significance (Fig EV2A and B ).
