The MS spinal cord CSA was lower than control by between 19% and 24%, quite small proportional variation between cord levels; however, there was borderline significant evidence, P = 0.055, of variation in absolute differences by region, with the largest absolute loss in the cervical region (Figure 5 A). aCST was decreased in the MS spinal cord by between 25% and 37% (Table 2 ).

Prognostic Risk Factors In univariate Cox models of other prognostic risk factors, OS was positively associated with MGMT methylation (hazard ratio [HR] 0.490 [CI: 0.314–0.765], P = .002 [.005]) and borderline significant negatively associated with steroid use (HR 1.562 [CI: 0.991–2.463], P = .055 [.093]), but not with PS (HR 1.284 [CI: 0.841–1.959], P = .247 [.344]), age (HR 0.992 [CI: 0.969–1.107], P = .528 [.638]), an a priori diagnosis of progression (HR 1.304 [CI: 0.845–2.012], P = .230 [.332]), or prior biopsy only (HR 0.53 [CI: 0.263–1.062], P = .073 [.119]).

In the delay-discounting task (0–45 s), PFOS (vs vehicle) was associated with a borderline significant lower percentage of choices for the large reward (mean difference = −9.4 %age points, 95 % CI −19.1–0.26, p = 0.055) and was associated with more omissions (mean difference = 4.3 points, 95 % CI 0.50–8.07, p = 0.031).

We found that uncorrectable VI—caused by pathological conditions—was associated with a significant reduction in health utility, as measured by the TTO instrument (disutility of 0.052, p = 0.041), and a borderline significant reduction when measured by the EQ-5D-5 L (disutility of 0.047, p = 0.055), after adjustment for socio-demographic factors and chronic disease history.

These findings were confirmed in univariate Cox regression analysis using a dichotomised variable of low (0–2) and high (3–4) PODXL expression (HR=1.98; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.38–2.84, P <0.001 for CSS and HR=1.85; 95% CI 1.29–2.64, P =0.001 for 5-year OS), and remained significant for 5-year OS in multivariate analysis (HR=1.52; 95% CI 1.03–2.25, P <0.036) and borderline significant for CSS (HR=1.57; 95% CI 0.99–2.18, P =0.055), adjusted for age, gender, TNM status, differentiation grade and vascular invasion ( Table 2 ).

For some of these SNPs (in the ZFAND6, ADYC5, IGF2BP2, SLC30A8, KLHDC5, and HMGA2 genes), statistically significant or borderline significant interactions with BMI (or with waist circumference) in determining T2D were reported in the EPIC-InterAct study ( p = 0.055, p < 0.01; p = 0.034; p = 0.099; p = 0.10, respectively) [ 16 ].
