Key differences were identified using Bonferroni post hoc comparisons and included greater utilization of acceptance as a coping mechanism for those with a stoma up to one year compared to those over 10 years ( p = 0.025), and trends towards emotional support coping appeared to be greater in those under one year compared to those over 10 years ( p = 0.061) and the non‐stoma group ( p = 0.083) but were just outside the level of significance.
