Milk consumption of the self-reported LI group was significantly lower than that of the non-self-reported LI group, whereas yogurt consumption was of borderline significance, and cheese consumption was comparable between the two groups.

In addition, C3 was still associated with a higher asthma symptom score (MSR = 1.18 [1.02; 1.37]), and C2 was of borderline significance with slightly lower MSR.

While the p value of interaction was of borderline significance, there are recent studies also reporting sex-specific differences in the relationship between OSA and plasma levels of cardiac troponin T. 39 This study showed a significant association between a diagnosis of OSA and plasma levels of troponin T among middle-aged women but not men. 39 These findings may suggest that the effect of OSA may be particularly deleterious among women, but further studies are needed to confirm this hypothesis.

A significant negative association was found in relation to urban living (OR 0.48; 95% CI 0.32-0.73, p = 0.001), whereas the association with education level was only of borderline significance (p for trend = 0.051 OR 0.71; 95% CI 0.51-1.00) (Tables 2 and 3 ).

At multivariable analysis adjusted for other potential confounding factors, statin use (OR, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.32–0.80) was associated to a reduced risk of PDAC occurrence, while the association for aspirin use was of borderline significance (OR, 0.64; 95% CI, 0.40–1.01).

Similarly, the association between alcohol use disorder and hypoglycemia risk, although of borderline significance, is clinically meaningful, given the inhibitory effect of alcohol on hepatic gluconeogenesis and the tendency to underestimate carbohydrate needs during drinking episodes [ 28 ].

Reductions in serum TAG, remnant lipoprotein cholesterol, CRP, and P-selectin were of borderline significance ( Table 1 ).

The interaction between South Asian ethnicity and diabetes status was of borderline significance for MACE (p interaction=0.05) but not for all-cause mortality (p interaction=0.15) ( online supplemental e-table 5 and e-figure 2 ), and that between fasting blood glucose and ethnicity was not significant for MACE (p=0.91).

Two recent cohort studies also provided inconsistent results; in a 4-year follow-up of Chinese children's study, no significant association was found for sleep duration with myopia progression and axial elongation for the children and the association with axial elongation was only of borderline significance in girls [ 15 ].

Those variables found to be clinically relevant and/or statistically significant (or of borderline significance) in this analysis were further assessed as covariates in a multivariate analysis using logistic regression with stepwise variable selection and multiple correspondence analysis methods.

The use of dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine for IPT of malaria in schoolchildren was associated with reductions in parasite prevalence and annual entomological inoculation rate, but these were of borderline significance.

Another limitation of this study is that the observed associations between the frequency of consumption of protein-rich foods and functional outcomes were weak and of borderline significance.

There was no significant association with ER or HER2 status, but an association with PR-negative disease was of borderline significance ( table 2 , figure 2 ).

Other findings to date have been either conflicting or of borderline significance.

In the Jewish group, the inverse association of child physical activity with overweight/obesity was only of borderline significance, marginally supporting previous evidence of its protective role in a systematic review of studies among children from disadvantaged backgrounds ( 31 ).

An abrupt and sustained increase of borderline significance was also found for women in Greece in May 2011.

The power to identify risk factors for prevalent TB was limited by the success of the intervention, leading to low point prevalence, but HIV infection and smoking were of borderline significance on multivariate analysis when all TB cases (including culture negative) were included.

Linear regression modelling identified all the same predictor variables, and in addition an association (of borderline significance) was observed between prior antibiotic and prednisone use and improved QoL [ Supplementary Table 2 ].

At old age (age 77 and 82), the strength of most individual risk factors has declined, but in the elderly LDL-cholesterol, not included in MetS, is the major risk factor for myocardial infarction, while the MetS variables blood pressure, glucose and HDL-cholesterol were of borderline significance.

In multiple logistic regression analysis including stathmin, mitotic count, and p53 as explanatory variables, high mitotic count (p = 0.025) and strong p53 staining (p < 0.001) were significant and independent predictors of the core basal phenotype in cohort 1, whereas stathmin (p = 0.040) was of borderline significance (Table 2 ).

While the duration of this lag period and the associated influencing factors require further research, particularly due to results being of borderline significance, the exposure effect appears to be greatest up to three- or four days post-exposure.

Unlike study elsewhere [ 20 ], PDA was only of borderline significance.

However, the association was only of borderline significance after adjusting for socio-demographic factors, health behaviors and depressive symptoms [ 14 ].

In the cell lines from UVC-exposed cultures, the most frequent type of mutation was C:G > T:A, as in skin squamous cell carcinomas (Skin_SCC), and with a strand-bias of borderline significance ( Fig. 1d and Table 1 ).

In addition, in post-hoc analyses, smoking tobacco was of borderline significance for being an effect modifier for total mortality, and since smoking tobacco has decreased since the study was done, the results even in the narrow VA population targeted earlier could have been different had the study been done today ( 7 ).
