We understand the concerns regarding the data from exu mutants, which is of borderline significance and have changed the last sentence of the Abstract to “These particles appear to be well-defined structures that package the RNA for transport and anchoring.”

Other findings to date have been either conflicting or of borderline significance.

All genotype frequencies follow the Mendel’s laws prediction; however, a survival reduction of borderline significance is observed for the double homozygous line (-aabb) (Supplementary Table 1 ).

In the subgroup of geographic area, a decreased risk of borderline significance was observed for oral contraceptive users in European studies (RR=0.79, 95% CI=0.62–1.01), but this association did not emerge in the North American studies group (RR=0.99, 95% CI=0.81–1.21).

In mothers having pre-eclampsia during pregnancy, we found an increased risk of borderline significance in children below the age of 18 months.

In contrast, female survivors of non-CNS tumours had a smaller chance, of borderline significance, of completing upper secondary school than males (RR: 0.83, 95% CI: 0.68–1.01) and were more likely to complete short- and medium-cycle higher education than long-cycle higher education.

After adjusting for cardiovascular risk factors, the association between serum γ-tocopherol and ischemic stroke death was of borderline significance in men: the multivariate ORs (95% CI) for the highest versus the lowest quintile and for a 1-SD increment in γ-tocopherol level were 0.48 (0.22–1.06; P for trend = 0.07) and 0.77 (0.58–1.02), respectively.

Prandial insulin was also associated with a greater weight increase of borderline significance.

Other studies in Mexican-Americans and Taiwanese Chinese in sample sizes of NPDR/PDR varying from 103 to 437 revealed the association of borderline significance with a few SNPs.[ 37 54 55 56 ] However, all these associations need to be replicated to draw any meaningful biological conclusion.

Smoking status, while only of borderline significance in the univariate analysis, was found to be more strongly significant in the multivariate analysis.

After mutually adjusting for suPAR and EuroSCORE II or STS score, suPAR remained associated with postoperative mortality and postoperative complications, although for the model containing suPAR and the STS score, the association of suPAR with postoperative mortality was of borderline significance.

Nuclear grade (RR 1.6) and negative ER status (RR 1.7) were of borderline significance, while tumour size, p53 positivity and carrier status did not achieve significance ( Table 2 ).

Transfer of 2 embryos was a significant factor for occurrence of abnormal placentation and spontaneous cycle ET (i.e., ET without any stimulation) was of borderline significance ( P value being between 0.050 and 0.100) for absence of abnormal placentation.

Nissen and Wolski [ 32 ] published a meta-analysis showing a significant increase in the risk of myocardial infarction and an increase in cardiovascular death of borderline significance in patients with diabetes receiving RGZ.

In the mixed model, the interaction pattern was most clearly supported in unipedal stance, whereas the bipedal interaction term was borderline, and the elastography effect was also of borderline significance.

When considered jointly, depressive symptoms and/or antidepressant use were directly associated with WBC count in the unadjusted (β = 0.36, 95% CI: 0.21, 0.51) and adjusted (β = 0.15, 95% CI: 0.00, 0.31) models, although the latter relationship was of borderline significance.
