Analysis of covariance using an aligned rank data transformation (ART; http:// www.r-project.org ) was performed to control diagnostic group effects at baseline for covariates “number of cigarettes” and “cortisol concentration.” All statistical tests were two-tailed with P < .05 considered significant and P < .10 as trending toward significance.
Aim 4: effect of hypnosis across groups An independent-sample t -test across groups revealed that the increases in blood-flow amplitude during post-hypnosis pain task 1 – anticipation, pain task 1 (trending toward significance, moderate effect size), and pain task 2 – anticipation period (trending toward significance, moderate effect size) were larger in the SCD group compared to controls ( t =3.152, d =1.242, p =0.004; t =1.704, d =0.68, p =0.1; t =1.403, d =0.56, p =0.18).
However, when examining the change in physical activity knowledge, youth in the loss-framed group had the smallest improvement in physical activity knowledge compared with the other groups, whereas youth in the gain-framed group had the greatest improvement in physical activity knowledge, although these differences were only trending toward significance.
However, despite the small sample size, we were able to demonstrate statistically significant outcomes in patients who were initiated on both GLP1 RA and SGLT2i’s, and we were trending toward significance with the GLP1s plus Metformin sample as well as with the total population.
Clinical trials for AD therapeutics have commonly used some version of the ADAS‐Cog at longitudinal visits to assess the efficacy of the treatment in slowing cognitive decline; for nearly two decades, trials of amyloid beta (Aβ)‐targeted therapies have failed to show efficacy, 28 although some have shown results in the ADAS‐Cog that were trending toward significance. 29 If language item scores are reliable and most heavily influenced by the progression of mild AD, the clinical trial data might be reassessed post hoc using language subdomain items, or specifically “comprehension of spoken language,” as most items from the other subdomains were less reliable, and their reliable information was more heavily related to interindividual trait differences.
Performance on the subcategorization task, although not significantly associated with damage to the Broca's area ROI, was trending toward significance, although this was only the case when lesion volume was not added as a covariate (see Matchin et al., 2023 , for detailed discussion of the importance of lesion volume to the mislocalization of syntactic comprehension deficits in aphasia).
However, we should also consider and reconcile these non-significant results with a lack of statistical power, especially given that estimates appeared to be trending toward significance and were, generally, in the same direction as those from the MSMs.
Pearson correlations were also performed between all participant's individual change in fCSA and their fold change in western blot proteins to determine if relationships existed between these variables and, if trending toward significance or significant, was followed up with a simple linear regression analysis for each group to discern potential group differences.
1 The comparison closest to statistical significance was abdominal hernia ( P = 0.06), which could reasonably be described as trending toward significance. 1 This apparent discrepancy likely reflects differences in statistical power between the overall analysis and the subgroup comparisons.
