Nominally significant associations with PD risk were identified for four SNPs: XRCC6 rs5751129 ( p = 3.55 × 10−5), XRCC4 rs28360071 ( p = 0.0181), NBN rs2735383 ( p = 0.0213) and RAD50 rs17772583 ( p = 0.0411).

In contrast, for XRCC6 rs5751129, mRNA expression was slightly reduced in 14 CT carriers compared with 32 TT (wild-type) individuals, although this difference did not reach statistical significance ( p = 0.1763).
This cumulative effect was further supported when combined individuals with one or two PD-susceptible genotypes (OR = 2.53, 95%CI = 1.21–5.27, p = 0.0165), and those with three or four susceptible genotypes (OR = 3.93, 95%CI = 1.83–8.43, p = 0.0004), with a significant trend across subgroups ( p for trend = 0.0009, Table 5 ).
