However, when interpreting these results it has to be mentioned that, although odds ratio was 1.65 times higher for being admitted with a DKA in 2020 compared to 2019 adjusted for age, gender and BMI, the observed differences in frequency and severity of DKA between 2020 and 2019 did not reach statistical significance, which may be attributable to the small sample size.
