Nickel–iron catalysts currently occupy a significant share (over 35%) in hydrocarbon processing applications [ 6 , 7 ], with an increasing trend towards their use in renewable feedstock processing, including lignocellulosic biomass.
For the predicted most stable doped models, we studied and identified the most favorable sites for oxygen vacancy formation, finding that a clear trend in almost all selected Sm-doped CeO 2 (111) models: the second anionic layer of the slab model is the most preferred location for creating an oxygen defect, especially when the removed O ion is located close to the dopant(s), yielding the lowest oxygen vacancy formation energy.
Figure 6 A–C exhibit a decreasing trend for absolute zeta potential and noteworthy variation for turbidity with increasing temperature, which may result from changes in vesicle phase structure owing to changes in the strength of the surface charge of the particles with temperature [ 30 ].
