Thus, we also re-analyzed cortisol data with MC as continuous variable, and found that the final model including MC, regulation condition and interactions with time, as well as hormonal status only showed a trend towards significance ( p = 0.051; see Supplementary Table S11 ).
Results largely overlapped those of the main analyses with the exception of the VBM analysis in the subsample, in which the left hippocampus exhibited only a trend towards significance ( p = 0.051), and the rs-fMRI analysis with history of TRD as an additional covariate, in which the left parahippocampal cluster was no longer significant (see Supplemental Result ).
At the same time, dHPC - neurons showed only a trend towards significance using t -statistics ( P = 0.051, Welch’s t -test; Fig. 4e, f ) that reached significance using estimation statistics (Supplementary Fig. 5p ).
After adjustment for age and sex, the association remained statistically significant only for SAF (B = −0.045, p = 0.023) and maintained a trend towards significance for IMT Max (B = −0.015, p = 0.051).

CPB time showed a trend towards significance with a shorter time in patients with an anatomical variation [81 min (IQR: 76–97) vs. 98 min (IQR: 83–128); P = 0.052].

EAT‐26 In model 2, controlling for participants’ age and severity of autistic traits (RAADS-R), SPQ-SF35 Touch predicted the EAT-26 Total Score (b = − 0.519, p = 0.031); a trend towards significance emerged at the subscales Dieting (b = − 0.289, p = 0.052), and Bulimia and Food Preoccupation (b = − 0.124, p = 0.078).

Associations with asthma severity and control In analyses including only participants with asthma, and controlling for anxiety and depression symptoms, asthma severity (categorized as persistent or intermittent) did not significantly predict differences in emotional exhaustion (b = 0.17, t (220) = 0.10, p = 0.92), nor did the continuous ACT score, though the negative relation between asthma control and emotional exhaustion (i.e., more asthma control being related to less emotional exhaustion) did show a trend towards significance (b =− 0.34, t (220) =− 1.94, p = 0.053) (Table S4).
