This omission may be due to difficulties with the collection of adequate and appropriate specimens in younger patients, the indeterminate significance of these organisms in the CF population, and a lack of awareness and consistency among providers in obtaining NTM cultures as part of routine CF care [ 7 ].

Category III (L3), also known as atypia of indeterminate significance, was implemented by the Sydney system to ensure a high accuracy in identifying benign and malignant cases by maintaining high negative and positive predictive values, respectively.

Introduction In the continuous spectrum of monoclonal gammopathies, smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) occupies an intermediate position between what is usually referred to as a pre-malignant condition, i.e., monoclonal gammopathy of indeterminate significance (MGUS) and active multiple myeloma.

The role of MEG also extends to the identification of a probable contributory lesion in MRIs with multiple lesions, or in lesions of indeterminate significance ( 54 ).
