According to Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions Version 6.0, a rough guide to the interpretation of the I 2 statistic is: 0% to 40% might not be significant, 30% to 60% may be on behalf of moderate heterogeneity, 50% to 90% may represent extensive heterogeneity, and 75% to 100% substantial heterogeneity.
