For MFO relative to body mass, the indirect effect approached significance (β = 0.080, 95% CI [−0.011, 0.195]; Figure 1 C), with a significant direct association and a trend observed in the leptin-to-MFO path ( p = 0.0876), suggesting possible partial mediation.
In line with this evidence, our study showed a negative trend in the association between leptin levels and VO 2 max and also found that leptin significantly mediated the relationship between MedDiet adherence and VO 2 max.
