Genome-wide significance is generally considered any SNP with a p value less than 5 × 10 −8 ; however, SNPs reaching borderline significance, p < 10 −7 , will also be extracted as borderline significance has been found to be generally replicable [ 17 ].
Using this metric, we see a strong positive ( r = 0.96 ) and highly significant (P < 10 − 7 ) Pearson correlation between the phylum and genus level predictions (see Tables 3 and 4 for this and other correlations).
Nevertheless, the observed degree of overlap was extremely significant (5 sites in both log-phase #1 and #2, p = 1e-7; 9 sites in both log-phase #1 and heat-shock, p = 3e-15; 14 sites in both log-phase #2 and heat-shock, p = 2e-18; all p -values computed by hypergeometric distribution), due to the vast number of possible nucleotides evaluated from throughout the transcriptome ( Figure 3 , Table 1 ).
Limitations at the study level may include a lack of reporting quality control steps, reporting of variants within linkage disequilibrium, small sample size, and a lack of reporting variants that failed to reach genome-wide significance ( p < 5 × 10 −8 ) but may have reached borderline significance levels ( p < 10 −7 ).
We observed nominally significant enrichment of neuroticism GWAS variants within the osteoclast eQTL dataset at the P < 1 × 10 −7 and 1 × 10 −8 thresholds ( P = 0.01 and 0.007, respectively, Fig. 2 ); however, these were not significant after correction for multiple testing.
Ingenuity Pathway Analysis of the VDR interactome revealed highly significant ( P ≤ 0.01 × 10 −5 ) enrichment of proteins involved in transcriptional repression and DNA methylation, as well as chromatin remodeling and gene silencing ( Fig. 6 F and Fig.
Canonical pathway analysis revealed ten statistically highly significant pathways (−log(p) < 7) at the 30 min time point, but at the 24 h time point, no pathway reached a -log(p) value <4, and thus, their significance is questionable.
Comparison of the cross‐sectional area of stems produced by the same plant in 2000 and in 2001 showed a highly significant effect of treatment ( F 1, 168 = 31.10, p < .0000001).
4 confirm that the association between folding intermediates and translational pause sites is highly significant (one-sided P < 10 − 7 at neutral-model P -value thresholds below 0.01; SI Appendix , Fig.
The partial correlations coefficients were still statistically highly significant ( P < 10 -7 , for all comparisons) and indicated that the correlations between ω and breadth of expression were independent from gene length.
flexneri was very highly significant ( P < 0.0000001), but survival of alone-cultivated A. castellanii compared to that of cocultivated with plasmid-cured S. flexneri was not statistically significant ( P = 0.88).
It is worth also noting that the multivariate Cramer Test that detects differences in cytokine patterns was not significantly different between ND and PIH‐in group ( P = .087), while, as expected, the P ‐value between ND and PIH‐out was extremely significant ( P = .0000001).
On Day 5, WT mice exhibited peak activity, with highly significant increases in total distance ( p < 1 × 10−7), rotations ( p < 1 × 10−6), and corner distance ( p < 0.0001).
Statistical analysis carried out on the timing errors, pooled over all subjects after averaging over all repetitions of each condition (four-way ANOVA, 3 [viewing distance] x 5 [ball descent duration] x 2 [figure type] x 6 [character type]), showed highly significant effects of character type ( F 5,1168 = 113.188, P <10 −7 ) and figure type ( static versus dynamic , F 1,1168 = 25.180, P <10 −6 ), less significant effects of viewing distance ( F 2,1168 = 3.602, P <0.05) and of the interaction between character type and figure type ( F 5,1168 = 2.569, P <0.05).
These changes could reflect changes in the training of those who name species, as more species are named by scientists who are not classically trained taxonomists or who have less familiarity with Latin and Greek; however, these hypotheses would be difficult to test. A notable feature of the etymological patterns in table 2 is that they vary among the surveyed taxa (and this variation is highly significant: p < 10 −7 ).
For 5 m bins, mound ID is highly significant ( p <10 −7 ) and distance is also significant ( p = 0.01), with density increasing on average with distance, but with much variation between mounds (no significant interaction effect).
Interestingly, of these 117 genes a clear degradation effect was observed with 94 genes displaying preferential loss of a 3′ probeset and only 23 genes showing loss of a 5′ probeset suggesting highly significant (P < 1 × 10 −7 , repeat random sampling) 3′ degradation.
For the three factors where a correct association is predicted, the result is judged highly significant by a one-tailed Fisher's; Exact test ( P < 10 − 7 ) (data not shown).
Of the 45 pairwise differences between the modules, 32 were significant ( p < 0.05, of which 24 were highly significant, p < 1.00 × 10 − 7 ) and 13 were not ( p > 0.05).
