In another study using coextruded FePP, CA, and TSC with an iron concentration of 80 mg Fe/kg rice, an increasing trend in iron solubility was observed with higher molar ratios of CA and TSC, and iron absorption from the coextruded meal with a molar ratio of 1:0.1:2.1 was equivalent to that from the FeSO 4 reference meal [ 9 ].
The primary surgical approaches for stage 4 ROP include scleral buckling (SB), lens-sparing vitrectomy (LSV), and lensectomy with vitrectomy (L + V), with the choice depending on disease progression and other anatomical factors.[ 4 , 5 ] SB, which involves either segmental or encircling techniques, relieves traction by creating an indentation of the sclera, thereby promoting reattachment and stabilizing the retina.[ 6 , 7 ] While there is an increasing trend toward vitrectomy for ROP management, previous literature has established the indications for LSV in Stage 4A/4B ROP.[ 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ] However, there are limited case series and a scarcity of longer-term follow-up studies on the specific role of SB in the management of stage 4 ROP.[ 14 , 15 ] Moreover, lacunae exist in the management of Stage 4B ROP with segmental or encircling buckles.[ 7 , 16 , 17 ] Our study describes the overall role of segmental/encircling bands in management of stage 4A/4B ROP in large case series with longer follow-up.
WHO estimates reveal an increasing trend in the prevalence of anemia (21.70% in 2019 vs 23.30% in 2022), which could also be observed in this study. 10 In the age group between 18-49 years, anemia was more frequent in females than in male patients, while in the older age groups, anemia prevalence was higher in males compared to females.
