Results During the pandemic period, the total Beck Depression Scale values increased significantly in the patients with epilepsy compared to the pre-pandemic period ( P = 0.048), and depressive symptoms showed an increasing trend ( P = 0.032).

For types 1 and 3, a declining trend was observed with increasing age while type 2 demonstrated an increasing trend with age which achieved level of significance ( p = 0.032) between younger and older cohorts.

The annual overall crude incidence was 5·83 per 100 000 inhabitants, with an increasing trend ( P = 0·033).

In addition, Lin et al ., observed that, among maintenance hemodialysis patients, the GSTM 1 null genotype was associated with a significantly lower antioxidant capacity than the GSTM+ genotype.[ 20 ] The null/low polymorphisms of the GSTM 1 and GSTT 1 genes have been associated with the risk of developing ESRD in North Indian patients.[ 17 ] In addition, Singh et al ., reported that patients with transplant therapy demonstrated an increasing trend toward carrying the GSTM 1 null genotype (51.3%) versus healthy controls (40.4%) with a risk of about 1.5-fold ( P = 0.035), and patients with a variant genotype of GSTM 1 were at the higher risk of transplant rejection.[ 21 ] The frequencies of important functional mutations and alleles result in broad ethnic variation.

Results The incidence of CP was 68 of 9701 (0.7%), with an increasing trend over the two 5.5-year periods studied (24 of 4661 (0.5%) vs 44 of 5040 (0.9%); p=0.035).

Results: There was an increasing trend of surgical fixation of humeral shaft fractures during the 15 years' study period (β = 1.266, 95% CI 0.17 to 2.36, p = 0.035).

Secondary analyses An increasing trend of postpartum suicide attempt was indicated among adolescent fathers (aged 11–19 years) (IRR 1.06 (1.00–1.11), P = 0.037), but the association is no longer significant after adjusting for multiple comparison (adjusted P = 0.096).

The unit cost of high-risk population intervention showed a declining trend over the years (r=−0.791, p=0.034) (see online supplementary appendix C), while the unit cost of public awareness showed an increasing trend over the years (r=0.785, p=0.037) (see online supplementary appendix D).
