However, gene ontology enrichment analysis revealed a highly significant enrichment of glycolysis-associated proteins ( P < 10 10 ), with downregulation of the entire glycolytic pathway, and conversely an upregulation of AMP-activated protein kinase signaling– and autophagy-associated proteins, promoting catabolic pathways to generate more ATP.

5 , 6 , p < 0.05, false discovery rate (FDR) corrected], and in nine such comparisons, results were highly significant (Figs. 5 , 6 , p < 10 −10 , FDR corrected); see Supplementary Data 5 for AUC histogram bin data (bootstrapped resamples).

5C ), and this difference was highly significant within an animal across within-sequence repetitions (Fig. 5D , p < 10 −10 , Wilcoxon Rank Sum test, n 1 = 162, n 2 = 1428) and across animals (Fig. 5E , p = 0.0079, Wilcoxon Rank Sum test, n = 5), as well as in single cells recorded in the ORR in 2p in the same animals (Fig. 5F , p < 10 −100 , Wilcoxon Rank Sum test, n = 765).
The first four inferred edges are highly significant (p<10 −10 for m = 1 to m = 4), the last one however to a much lesser extent (p = 0.009).

Compared to the expectation under random assignment, this is an over-representation in this category of 40% in yeast and 29% in human, which is modest, but because of the large numbers, highly significant (both p<1e-10).

On the basis of counting statistics (binomial distribution), this difference is highly significant ( p << 10 −10 ).
Emmetropization There was strong evidence of emmetropization (Figures 4(a) and 4(b) ) in RAR and ROP Sprague-Dawley rats ( dashed light blue and light red lines ) as well as ROP Long-Evans rats ( dark red lines ) resulting in a highly significant effect of age ( F (age) = 32.6, df = 2,78, P < 10 −10 ).
On applying a relaxed threshold of FDR <0.3 we observed a total of 2,514 BRCA1 -mutation associated CpGs, of which 1,422 (57%) were hypermethylated (hyperM) and 1,092 (43%) were hypomethylated (hypoM) in women who had a BRCA1 mutation (Figure 1 , Additional file 5 ), representing a highly significant skew towards hypermethylated CpGs (Binomial test P < 1e-10).
