Borderline significance (attained at 10% level of significance) was attained with variables the following: whether parents were divorced, average mark during previous term and facilitating test anxiety ( Table 2 ).

From the present data, the odds ratio for the interaction of stress with being married was 2.98 (95% CI 0.97–9.18, p = 0.057), which was borderline significant; however, it indicates that both variables together increase the risk of eating disorders [ 56 ].

In the ACCORD trial, there was a borderline significant trend towards cardiovascular benefit among the pre-specified sub-group analysis of patients with TG ≥ 204 mg/dL and HDL cholesterol ≤34 mg/dL when compared with other patients [ 52 ].

Compared with placebo, inulin/FOS had no effect on plasma triacylglycerol concentrations and hepatic lipogenesis and induced only a nonsignificant trend for reduced plasma total and LDL-C levels and increased HDL-C concentration.

Children consuming the n -3 spread did not experience the decline in spelling observed in the unsupplemented children over the 6 months, and there was a marginally significant benefit of supplementation on reading.

Others have suggested that even if the level of bioavailability of post-absorptive flavonoids is lower than previously reported, localized redox reactions in the gastrointestinal tract may be significant [ 60 ].

Children who dropped out were significantly more stunted and more wasted at enrolment than those who completed the study in both groups but the difference in wasting approached significance only among children who received the supplement.

Blood lutein was associated with a marginally significant reduction in the rate of subcapsular cataract (RR: 0.76; 95% CI: 0.56, 1.00), whereas the results for blood zeaxanthin were statistically nonsignificant (RR: 0.84; 95% CI: 0.62, 1.06).

In the subgroup analysis by study design, a borderline significant association emerged in population-based case-control studies (RR = 0.82, 95% CI: 0.68–0.99), but not in hospital-based case-control studies (RR = 1.00, 95% CI: 0.99–1.01) or cohort group (RR = 1.03, 95% CI: 0.88–1.20).

A value of p < 0.01 was taken to designate statistical significance, with 0.01 ≤ p ≤ 0.05 indicating marginal significance.

There was a decreasing trend in the time spent on each interview conducted over time in both the Somali and Iraqi groups.

Due to the small sample size and low power to detect significant differences, we also report differences at an alpha level of < 0.10 as marginally significant.

The administration of an oily emulsion of DHA-phospholipids containing melatonin and tryptophan for 12 weeks in 25 elderly subjects with MCI led to a significant treatment effect for the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and the olfactory sensitivity assessment, a positive trend for the semantic verbal fluency, and a significant improvement in the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) score [ 24 ]. 2.2.

A nonsignificant trend toward lower complement C3 levels (a marker for estrogenic effects) was observed after IF intervention, indicating anti-estrogenic activity.

Specifically, there has been a clear trend towards higher consumption of fructose and high fructose corn syrup, which are the most common added sugars in processed food, soft drinks and other sweetened beverages.

They showed a slight trend of increasing intake among low, medium, and high income individuals.

In addition, RGE-treated mice showed a trend of increasing the levels of IFN-γ cytokine in BALF although there were no statistically significant differences compared to untreated RSV-infected control mice ( Figure 5 C,F).

It is a highly significant finding in this study that the treatment of RGE increased the population of dendritic cells and enhanced the production of antiviral cytokine IFN-γ in BAL fluids upon RSV infection.
