No significant difference in RDS of any severity was seen across the intrauterine growth restriction studies (pooled OR: 0.81, 95% CI 0.59–1.11; 4 studies, 504 infants), nor in the majority of reports on SGA infants, though pooled analyses revealed a clear trend favouring ACS (pooled OR: 0.83, 95% CI 0.66–1.05, 8 studies, 1126 infants).
