Perioperative respiratory adverse events (PRAEs) are among the most widespread and serious complications in pediatric anesthesia, accounting for 30% to 70% of anesthesia-related critical incidents and cardiac arrests, with a higher incidence in infants and a decreasing trend as age increases (Templeton et al. 2022 ; Bharti et al. 2009 ; Bhananker et al. 2007 ; Ungern-Sternberg et al. 2010 ).
A decreasing trend was observed for all adverse events, with the most pronounced decline seen in nausea. 5 Discussion This study, conducted in a cohort of treatment‐naïve children, observed higher eradication rates with a 7 day triple therapy with bismuth (ITT: 91%; PP: 94%) compared to the 14‐day standard triple therapy (ITT and PP: 87%).
To further complicate the interpretation of existing epidemiological data, a decreasing trend in the size of ruptured IAs has been reported, 15 suggesting that the attributable risk or relative importance of rupture‐promoting risk factors may have changed over time, which, in turn, would question the validity of older epidemiological studies in the management of contemporary patient cohorts.
