We found that LOX staining was associated inversely with tumor stage, approaching significance (p=0.08; Table 7 ), in agreement with earlier reports identifying LOX as a tumor suppressor that inhibits Ras [ 22 , 23 ].

The Relationship between Physical Performance Tests and Peripheral Fracture In the sub-group of post-menopausal patients, the scores of the tests 'TGUGT', and '8 FTW' were significantly higher in fractured patients compared with women with no previous fractures (14.5 sec ± 8.2 sec vs 11.4 sec ± 4.8 sec; p < 0.001 and 5.4 sec ± 2.6 sec vs 3.9 sec ± 2.0 sec; p < 0.001 respectively); while test '5 TSTS' scores were approaching significance (14.8 sec ± 6.4 sec vs 13.3 sec ± 5.1 sec; p = 0.08) (Figure 2 ).

Notably, a significant association was observed only in the youngest cohort (75-78 years; β=4.69, 95% CI: 1.33-16.57, p =0.02), with the age interaction term approaching significance ( p =0.08).

Adding the PVS × CIB interaction term further increased the explained variance to 26.5%, with the interaction approaching significance ( β _std = −0.26, p = 0.08), suggesting that cortical iron may have a more detrimental effect on cognition in individuals with higher PVS burden.
