In the literature

Due to the relatively small sample size, the CI for borderline significant independent variables was inspected (ie, inspection of the lower limit CI in relation to the size of effect estimate) for indications of incorrect omission from final models. 36 All final models were deemed to have sufficient CI coverage, based on the events-per-variable ratio. 36 Using methods described by Cleves et al , 37 final models showed no violations of underlying assumptions of proportional hazards (eg, tests based on reestimation, interaction of analysis time with the independent variables and graphically through Schoenfeld residuals) and showed appropriate model fit.
Both of these models were considered among tertiles of plasma marker concentrations and in both unadjusted and adjusted analyses, and those significant and borderline significant associations between soluble inflammatory markers (CD14, CD163, hs-CRP, TNFR-I, TNFR-II, IP-10, CCL2, CCL5, and CX3CL1) and peri-coronary inflammation suggest targets for further investigation in mechanistic studies.
Visually, most funnel plots appeared relatively symmetrical, although some outcomes (e.g., VO 2 max and waistline) yielded borderline significant p-values (both 0.010) in Egger’s test, suggesting a potential small-study effect.
However, in the prucalopride group, there was a borderline significant difference between the groups in terms of positive affect at the post-intervention research visit, with higher scores in the prucalopride group compared with the placebo group [PANAS-P mean (SD): placebo 29.1 (6.98), prucalopride 33.2 (7.35), t (46.6) = −1.99, p = 0.05, Cohen’s d = −0.57 (−1.14, 0.00)], which was not wholly explained by PANAS scores at baseline (see Table 1 )].
