SC treatment failed to increase placental weight in WT mice (0.097±0.002 treated versus 0.092±0.002 untreated) with P0 placental weight higher but just failing to reach statistical significance at the 5% level following SC treatment (0.072±0.002 treated versus 0.065±0.002 untreated, P = 0.056).
Results Between-group analysis with difference scores from pre- to posttest revealed a group difference for global cognition (CERAD total score) favoring the EG, with a moderate effect size and a p value just failing to reach statistical significance ( p =0.067; r = 0.43).
Although a clear numerical difference was observed in the proportions of deaths from any cause at 3 years between groups (12.6% in the combination therapy group, 13.5% in the salmeterol group, 16.0% in the fluticasone group and 15.2% in the placebo group), which led to an absolute risk reduction of 2.6% in the combination therapy group compared to the placebo group (HR 0.825, 95% CI 0.681–1.002), the p-value was 0.052, just failing to reach statistical significance.
Atrial fibrillation was also associated with increased risk of fracture from 1 to 3 years after discharge only [HR 1.62, 95% CI (1.09–2.40), P = 0.017] and previous stroke/TIA were associated with increased risk over the whole follow-up [HR 1.27, 95% CI (1.01–1.60), P = 0.041] (also just failing to reach statistical significance at 0–1 years after discharge).
Although just failing to reach statistical significance, the quantitative feedback highlighted greater disruption to activities and inconvenience and less inclination to complete the questions when participants used the SMS text-only implementation.
