A 7-point change in severity score is likely to be clinically significant because this magnitude of change (1) is consistent with the resolution of 1 “very bothersome” symptom plus a 1-point change in severity of 2 symptoms and likely to be significant to patients (where “very bothersome” symptom equals 5 points), and (2) is approximately 1 SE of the mean based on our pilot data (SD 30, n = 18) and consistent with distribution-based methods.
There was no noticeable effect on ACP yield from the other coefficient components included in this model. Figure 3 b indicates that effects above the Bonferroni limit are likely to be significant, effects above the t -value limits are possibly significant (and should be evaluated if they haven't already been chosen), and the Pareto diagram indicates that effects below the t -value limits are unlikely to be significant.
As there is likely to be significant variation in densities of target populations across study locations and over time due to variation in environmental factors such as rainfall as well as sampling biases imposed by collection methods [ 15 , 109 , 153 – 155 ], field implementation of a statistically powered assessment of entomological endpoints could also require considerable resources.
