We found that 18 of the 108 proteins investigated were influenced by storage time (Supplementary Table 1, nominally significant, p < 0.05), and one protein (Cancer antigen 125; CA-125 also known as Mucin 16) remained statistically significant after correction for testing of multiple hypotheses (Bonferroni, p < 0.05/108 = 4.6 × 10 − 4 ).

Despite limited overlap at the single-metabolite level between the two overall OC outcomes, we observed greater concordance at the pathway level: among nominally significant pathways (raw p < 0.05), arginine and proline metabolism and beta-alanine metabolism overlapped across the two outcomes ( Figure 1 E; Supplementary Table S4 ).

In the hDRG, hPEP.PIEZOh, hNP1, and hTRPM8 were nominally significant ( P < 0.05) cell types among females, and hPEP.TRPV1/A1.2, hAδ.LTMR, and hTRPM8 were nominally significant among males, though none of these cell types was significantly enriched after correction for multiple testing ( Supplemental Figure 1B and Supplemental Table 12 ).

When relative change from baseline in the various iron indices were analyzed using the ANCOVA model, with additional adjustments for study treatment and baseline hs-CRP, nominally significant treatment effects were seen for TIBC, transferrin, soluble transferrin receptor, and hepcidin (each P < 0.05; Table 2 ).
