In multivariable analyses, a lower risk of death remained following adjustment for socioeconomic factors and comorbidity, albeit of borderline significance in men.

Identification of intermediate-risk patients based on RVD and/or laboratory biomarkers was performed in three studies 10 , 13 , 19 with a trend towards reduced mortality of borderline significance.
