The variation in both TMP and DM content was much greater between the two seasons than between the genotypes, and the genotype x season interaction was also highly significant (Table 4 ).
Excerpts
a slight trendgold
pinnata shoots showed a slight trend to be inversely correlated with S supply, the negative effect of increasing sulfate levels on Se accumulation was only 2–3-fold, much less pronounced than for B. juncea (Figures 1A,C ).
More experiments are needed to determine whether this trend may be significant with more replication.
Highly significant genotype and watering effects were revealed for all the architectural variables measured, as well as genotype × watering interaction, with three distinct genotypic architectural responses to water restriction – weak, moderate and strong – represented by Hw336, ‘Baipome’ and ‘The Fairy,’ respectively.
For non-N 2 -fixing species, the correlation between foliar %N and δ 15 N was only marginally significant.
a clear trendgold
Although this variable did not show significant differences between bocashi doses ( F 3,24 = 0.30; p ≥ 0.82) and between the interaction of environments × bocashi doses ( F 3,24 = 2.75; p ≥ 0.06), the lower values were at 0 t ha -1 and increased as bocashi doses increased, showing a clear trend with higher values under shade-enclosure at higher bocashi doses and increasing under open-field and increasing as bocashi doses increased ( Table 2 ).
a slight trendgold
Although this variable did not show significant differences between the interaction of environments × bocashi doses ( F 3,24 = 0.61; p ≥ 0.61) the marginally upper values were exhibited under open-field with a slight trend to display highest values as bocashi doses increased in both environments ( Table 2 ).
Neither SPAD displayed significant differences between bocashi doses ( F 3,24 = 0.548; p ≥ 0.65), nevertheless showed a trend of increasing as bocashi doses increased with slightly higher values at 9 t ha -1 .
However, a meta-analysis by Yuan and Chen (2010) indicated a slightly significant correlation of tree root production and turnover rate with mean annual precipitation: lower water availability corresponded to a lower root turnover rate.
On chromosome arm 5AS, SNP-marker BS00076190_51 was highly significant in several environments including BLUEs and among the “best” SNP-markers based on the additive effects (Table 4 ).
Similarly, plants expressing AOP3 in the C3 background showed a trend toward higher levels of aliphatic glucosinolates than C3 plants without AOP3 , whereas no clear difference was seen in the C4 background (Figure 2A , Table S1 ).
It, however, exhibited an increasing trend in root tissue while its expression was still lower than control condition (Table 2 ; Figure 1 ).
Its expression level revealed a slightly increasing trend at 150 mM compared with 75 mM of NaCl.
Considering that MG is synthesized from dihydroxyacetone phosphate (generated mainly during glycolysis within the cytoplasm) and that the highest GSH concentration is also found in the cytoplasm, depending on the intensity of the stress MG production may be significant.
Abscisic Acid may be Involved in the Regulation of PA Biosynthesis in Peach Fruit Proanthocyanidins accumulate most abundantly in immature fruits such as apple ( Henry-Kirk et al., 2012 ), bilberry ( Jaakola et al., 2002 ), banana ( Barnell and Barnell, 1945 ), and strawberry ( Symons et al., 2012 ; Schaart et al., 2013 ), and levels decrease toward ripening In this study, a decreasing trend was also observed for flavan-3-ols in peach fruit, consistent with a previous report in nectarine ( Ravaglia et al., 2013 ).
cordata , marginally significant effect in A. pseudoplatanus ) (Table 3 ).
riparia with trehalose, with an increasing trend between VRS28 and VRS42 (2-fold, Figure 5C ).
a clear trendgold
There is a clear trend for those plants with reduced biomass with reduced NO 3 − availability also having lower net N uptake.
The amount of carbon assimilates needed to produce florets is almost insignificant compared with the amount needed to sustain their growth and development ( Kirby, 1988 ; Ferrante et al., 2013a ).
For instance, we found a highly significant association between 6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one.
As shown in Table 3 , all main effects of the individual QTLs were highly significant.
a strong trendgold
Our results were consistent with those of the past ( Eshed and Zamir, 1996 ) and overall, there was a strong trend for the less-than-additive model.
The only exceptions were Trento and Conthey for which we found slightly significant negative correlations.
The large differential expression of putative cuticle synthesis genes in the Arabidopsis data may be significant to an interpretation of the role of IDA signaling in abscission (discussed below).
On closer examination, the p -values based on genotype are highly significant for genes within the clusters (D1 and E22, see Table S1 ).
