SOD3 is the only gene which showed a trend of allelic, genotypic (rs2536512) as well as haplotypic (in order of rs13306703-rs699473-rs2536512) association ( Tables 2 , 3 and Table S5 ).
Excerpts
An interesting trend was observed suggesting that the first community (blue to green) contains patients who were infected from 1980 to the late 1990s, while the second community (yellow to red) contains patients who were infected more recently, after the year 2000 ( Figure 4 ).
Highly significant correlations were found between serum miR-122 levels and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), γ-glutamyltransferase (GGT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), i. e. parameters of liver cell damage.
Nine individual genes in the 14-gene subset showed a trend toward a correlation with reduced disease-free survival (data not shown), suggesting that each gene may contribute to the association of the collective 14-ING4/NF-κB gene signature with disease-free survival.
In contrast, quantification of Ki67 staining indicated a modest increase in cell proliferation, by 24%, in the PQ+Wnt3a treatment compared with the PQ+control treatment, although it did not quite reach significance ( Figure S2C –D).
As measured by Fisher's exact test, the incidence of genes involved in inflammatory response functions was highly significant with p-values ranging from 2.4×10 −11 to 7.4×10 −3 .
a clear trendgold
Save one data point, a clear trend is easily observed.
Measured values of Cd range between 0.21 and 0.27 mg kg dw −1 (median of four replicates), with seeming random variations versus time for the amended plots, and a decreasing trend for the control ( Figure 2 ).
Cells isolated from CR ascites had a more epithelial phenotype and showed a trend towards enhanced expression of genes associated with CSC when compared to cells isolated from the ascites of CN patients.
Our observations in ovarian cancer that the more epithelial (EpCAM-rich) NAD spheroids exhibit the enhanced malignant potential in mice and demonstrate an increasing trend of mRNA expression of selective CSC-like markers, are not entirely consistent with the relationship that has been developed between EMT and CSC in mammary cancer [8] – [9] .
This suggests there may be significant differences in the way these proteins interact with E. coli DNA, potentially contributing to the different levels of rescue observed.
Sample size appeared to explain some heterogeneity, although it only approached significance in mean-adjusted SRT IIV.
a negative trendgold
In contrast, a negative trend between the total amount of mononuclear cells and the purity of CD34 + cells was evident in CCB (not significant; Figure 3A ) but not in FCB samples ( Figure 3B ).
When analyzed after 72 h, all siRNAs had induced lysosomal leakage (appearance of lysosomal proteases in the cytosol), even though the effect of KIF20A and MYO1G siRNAs did not quite reach statistical significance ( Fig. 4C ).
However, these suppositions are contradicted by our observation of the few cases that were found with a slightly increasing trend over age.
Results Highly significant changes of the complex protein profiles after incubation with glaucoma and OHT serum in comparison to healthy serum were detected, showing specific changes in the cells (e.g.
We find that TQ+DG show highly significant potential to reduce tumor size and weight in tumor-bearing animals, much higher than either treatment alone or no treatment.
Finally, the main effects of electrode site were significant or marginally significant in all these time windows; there were no two-way interactions between electrode site and the other two factors; there was no three-way interaction among all factors.
The effect of seed rain intensity on species richness was significant from the 1 st to the 3 rd time periods, marginally significant in the 4 th time period and non-significant in subsequent time periods ( Table 2B ; Figs. 1B and S1B ).
Nevertheless, an ANCOVA model adjusted for sex, age at RA diagnosis, follow-up time from disease diagnosis, and classic CV risk factors, disclosed a marginally significant p value (0.052) when we compared the IFN-γ levels of patients carrying A allele with CV disease against patients who did not develop CV disease at the time of the study ( Table 8 ).
With our sample the empirical results suggest that regions which are estimated to explain a little over 1% of the variance can be detected at the suggestive level, whereas regions estimated to explain around 2% of the trait variance may be significant at the genome wide level.
In fact, a recently published study using selenium and vitamin E in a rat model of prostate tumorigenesis showed a similar finding, that vitamin E treatment showed a marginally significant increase in prostate tumor formation [65] .
Distinguishing between these or other molecular mechanisms is a highly significant but challenging problem which solution will enable to predict clinical risk of new or investigational drugs.
The correlation was highly significant for most respiratory function parameters with respect to five of the seven sensors composing the array.
The relationship of the species richness of all species to carbon stocks showed no or only marginally significant patterns, both when all plots and only the agroforest plots were considered ( Figure 2 , Figures S1 , S2 , S3 ).
