The results indicated that a cluster of highly significant SNPs represented by Chr2_67754173 ( p = 9.85 × 10 −7 ) was located downstream of Chr2T10180100, a gene encoding an LTP protein.
There were, however, several nominally significant associations with p -values <1 × 10 −6 .
The differences in the SD values between the POST and PRE groups were highly significant, P < 10 -6 for TP53 and AML1 , and P < 10 -7 for CEN17 (Table 1 ).
This analysis points up 8 genes with a significant eQTL colocalization signal in ASD ( CRHR1, KANSL1, MANBA, MAPT, MMP12, NKX2-2, PTPRE and WNT3 ) and one gene ( SRPK2 ) with a marginally significant colocalization signal ( r = 0.69, p < 1 × 10 −6 ), and specifically highlights the potentially causal role of MAPT ( r = 0.76, p < 1 × 10 −6 ), NKX2-2 ( r = 0.71, p -value = 2.26 −02 ) and PTPRE ( r = 0.97, p -value = 2.63 −04 ) when restricting the analysis to brain tissue.
This effect was highly significant and strongest in the proximal intestine (duodenum) where the number of stained PCs was reduced by half ( n = 7; P < 10 −6 ).
Considering nominally significant SNPs associated with each trait with p < 1 × 10 −6 in either study, we find a strong, significant positive correlation (Pearson correlation = 0.92, p < 2.2 × 10 −16 ) between effect sizes in BioVU and ATLAS ( Figure 4 C).
The expression profiles of highly significant differentially expressed genes [pvalue < 10 -6 with a FDR (False Discovery Rate) of 1.48. 10 -4 ; n = 292] have been categorized using hierarchical clustering.
This difference was apparent in the sub-group analysis with the reason for discontinuation specified as lack of improvement/progression of disease (HR = 1.7, p = 10 −6 ), scheduled stop/convenience (HR = 1.6, p = 0.001) or without the reason recorded (HR = 1.5, p = 10 −16 ).
There was a highly significant correlation between COX-2 and PCNA levels in tumours (r's = 0.7896; P = 0.000001) and VEGF in tumour samples (r's = 0.4610; 2 P = 0.0320).
Briefly, meta-analyses were considered to be supported by robust evidence if the association was supported by more than 1000 cases, a highly significant association (the random effects model had a P -value ≤ 10 −6 , a threshold that is considered to substantially reduce false positive findings) [ 31 – 33 ], there was absence of high heterogeneity based on I 2 < 50%, the 95% PI excluded the null value, and there was no evidence of small-study effects or excess statistical significance.
Of the 134 network components, 65 (49%) show a significantly rhythmic mRNA expression profile in liver, a highly significant enrichment when compared to a random selection of genes from this expression data set (p<10 −6 ; Chi-squared test).
When assuming a random distribution of microRNAs, the presence of 105 microRNAs in LINE-free regions is highly significant using a binomial distribution (expected number of microRNAs = 62; p<10 −6 ).
The association of newly evolved essential genes with newly evolved CTCF binding sites is highly significant compared to old essential genes with conserved CTCF binding sites (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, p <1e-6; Figure S19 ).
The likelihood ratio test was highly significant (χ 2 = 49.02, df = 10, p < 0.000001), as was the Wald test (χ 2 = 51.80, df = 10, p < 0.000001), indicating that the predictors collectively contributed meaningfully to HBV status classification.
The log10-transformed engorged larval weight was a highly significant predictor of the log10-transformed unfed nymphal weight, and the former explained 72.7% of the variation in the latter (Fig. 4 ; regression: F 1, 651 = 1738, p < 0.000001; correlation: r = 0.854, t = 41.859, df = 652, p < 0.000001).
The heart, which had the lowest spirochete load, was set as the reference; the spirochete load was higher in the bladder (5.2x), ankle joint (5.4x), dorsal skin (25.7x), right ear (122.2x), and left ear (147.7x), and these differences among mouse organs were highly significant (Fig. 1 ; p < 0.000001; see section 5 in the ESM for the complete analysis).
