Global analyses identified a total of 2,053 sites with overlapping peaks, and statistical analyses showed that this overlap is highly significant ( Figure 2 B) (p < 10 −6 , calculated using a permutation test with 1.0 × 10 6 iterations).

In contrast, highly significant differences were observed among the crop species (F 2,18 = 615.70, p < 0.000001; Table 1 ).
By the least stringent definition of a seed match – a six-nucleotide match complementary to nucleotides (nt) 2–7 or nt 3–8 in the miRNA – 70% of the miR-1 targets and 75% of the miR-124 targets possessed seed matches, a highly significant (P<10 −6 and <10 −25 , hypergeometric density distribution) enrichment over would be expected by chance ( Table 1 , designated ‘6mer’ seed match).
Analysis of the linear model including both species and sex as predictors of fore wing length revealed that this simple model explained much of the variation in size among the cicadas, and that the effects of both predictors were highly significant ( R 2 = 0.805, p < 0.000001 for both variables).
The three analyses along the diagonal of the graphic are all highly significant ( p < 1 × 10 −6 ), indicating that the CP-LRT found an effect in each disease against disease-causing RV + status in the respective gene.
In all cases, the difference in the level of divergence between normal and tumor samples in each tissue and platform cohort is highly significant (Wilcoxon P value < 10 − 6 ; see Fig. 2 ).
A similar analysis of these genes demonstrated that they were clustered closely in diseases and had a highly significant p value < 10 −6 .
We concluded that our finding of 33 cases of positive selection on mitochondrial biogenesis genes is highly significant (simulated P < 10 −6 ) and not caused by an expression or sequencing bias.
A total of 151 genes were regulated by hypoxia in both datasets (Figure 1D ), and a permutation test revealed such an overlap between the two datasets was highly significant ( P < 1 × 10 −6 ; Supplementary Figure S1B ).
Validation of RNA sequencing results and identification of potential biomarkers A total of 29 genes with highly significant differential expression in the RNA sequencing analysis (Table 4 , FDR-adjusted p value < 0.000001 and FC > 4 or FC < − 4) were selected for further real-time PCR analysis (ABI7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR System, Life Technologies).
These clusters are robust to changes in network parameters and are highly significant (p-value < 1 x 10 -6 , permutation tests).
To individually test candidate SNP pairs for interaction, we tested the nominally significant interaction results ( P < 1.0x10 -6 ) from the PLINK[ 63 , 64 ] epistasis test.
However, for intergroup comparison, the difference between the two modes was found to be highly significant in both sedated and awake states if we considered inspiratory hold in PAV+ as PMI ( P = 0.000001 for both states).
The prevalence varied between 18.2 and 50.7 %, depending on locality, and this variation proved to be highly significant (χ 2 = 59.599; P < 0.000001) (Table 1 , Fig. 1 ), suggesting a focal occurrence of borreliosis.
As indicated by the far from overlapping confidence intervals (CI) for these estimates, the differences between the two dementia caregiver groups is highly significant ( t = 4.87, p < 1 × 10 -6 ).
The difference between AD and HC was 64.47% with 95% confidence interval from 56.87% to 72.08%, and it was highly significant ( P < 0.000001).
A three-way ANOVA revealed a highly significant behavior × USV × respiratory frequency interaction ( F (32,1344) = 5.44, p < 0.000001) and further two-way ANOVAs showed a significant main effect of USV for both freezing ( F (1,21) = 6.29, p = 0.02) and escape ( F (1,21) = 18.05, p = 0.0004) states.
(2016) but with eight different healthy controls, the overlap across the two independent studies (and platforms) was substantial and highly significant (p<1e-06), far exceeding any overlap obtained from 100,000 random permutations of patients and controls.
There was a highly significant time effect, group effect and interaction between time and group ( p < 10 –6 ).
For consistency, we also examined this relationship using the 1000 Genomes phase II data and found similar highly significant relationship between N e for homozygous SNVs ( P < 10 − 6 ) (Additional file 1 : Figure S1).
The RR ratio was 0.29 (95% CI 0.18 to 0.48) and was highly significant ( P < .000001).
Highly significant differences in the levels of composite biomarkers were found between AD groups and normal controls ( p < 0.000001, one-way ANOVA), whereas differences in the levels of a single biomarker were only significant at the level of 0.001 (Fig. 4a–f and Supplementary Fig. 28 ).
