Further investigation showed that significant main effects were observed for “getting information,” “giving up,” “evading one’s responsibility,” and “positive interpretation,” while a trend toward significance was observed for “catharsis.” Specifically, the “High Overall Group” demonstrated significantly higher scores for “giving up.” The “High Negative Evaluation Group” exhibited a significantly higher score for “evading one’s responsibility,” The “Low Negative Evaluation Group” displayed significantly higher scores for “catharsis.” and the “Low Overall Group” showed significantly higher scores for “positive interpretation” compared to at least one other participant subtypes ( Table 3 ).

Effects of positive support scores from spouse (HR = 0.83, p = 0.107) showed a trend toward significance with the same effect size (HR = 0.83) as that for children.

On the other hand, although the difference observed between the groups in grade III reflux was not statistically significant, there was a trend toward significance for the modified STING technique in group 2.

A trend toward significance indicates a need for large-scale multicenter studies for prospective verification.
