In an analysis, utilising the methods described by Conti et al., [ 20 ] of the simulated data when homocysteine is the causal variable (Table 5 , first column) and incorporating an exchangeable prior structure in which all genes are treated equally (ie intercept only in the prior covariate matrix, Z), the posterior probabilities of including the two modestly significant genes TS and FTD are 0.57 and 0.48, respectively.
A modestly significant difference in the changes in the Chinese MetS Z score was also observed between the two groups at 3 months (mean difference: −0.25 [95% CI, −0.44 to −0.06]) and 12 months (mean difference: −0.21 [95% CI, −0.40 to −0.01]), but no significant difference was observed at 6 months (Table 4 ).
Subgroup analyses and meta-regression yielded only modestly significant p-values, and considering the lack of a priori hypothesis and the large number of comparisons that were made, they should be considered as exploratory analyses.
One study [ 78 ] proposed that factors including ABO blood type may also participate in this intricate process, while a recent meta-analysis revealed a modestly significant increased risk of Cag-A-negative H. pylori strain [ 67 – 69 , 73 ] with positively correlated factors, including non-O blood type [ 64 , 78 ] and smoking status [ 63 , 65 ] in PDAC.
By contrast, NREP posited that the internal models should largely compensate for most of these structural deviations, arguing that differences in judgement accuracy and precision would be ‘small’ (modestly significant) or ‘non-existent’ between blind-spot and non-blind spot regions (i.e., small bias and precision effects for the ipsilateral eye in the blind spot location, Fig 6 ).
