In the first years of the period considered, a positive association between PAC and abortion emerged, although of borderline significance due to the small number of cases; the PR was 1.08 (95%CI: 0.92–1.26) in 2010–2012, 1.21 (95%CI: 1.03–1.42) in 2013–2015 and 1.17 (95%CI: 0.98–1.40) in 2016–2018.
Patients with pT1 stage tumors (HR: 2.04, p -value = 0.0159) and high-grade tumors, according to the 1973 WHO classification (HR: 1.83, p -value = 0.0522), had a higher risk of recurrence, although the latter association was of borderline significance.
The analysis of exposure to combinations of oxygenated solvents (Table 5 ) showed that men exposed to ketones, alcohols and tetrahydrofuran had a significantly higher risk of hypopharyngeal cancer (OR = 2.79; 95% CI [1.12–6.95]); an increased OR of borderline significance was also observed for laryngeal cancer (OR = 2.25; 95% CI [0.94–5.38]).
In a follow-up study of the preterm infants randomised to breast milk or pre-term formula, differences in total cholesterol between the groups at age 13–16 years were of borderline significance [ 65 ], but there were differences in other lipoproteins, including a lower ratio of LDL to HDL cholesterol in the breast milk group. 3.5.2.
Further, significantly lower odds of vaccine acceptance were found in the 5th (aOR: 0.10; 95% CI: 0.04–0.24) and 4th (aOR: 0.34; 95% CI: 0.16–0.74) wealth index quintile, and lower odds of borderline significance were found in the 2nd (aOR: 0.49, 95% CI: 0.23–1.04) wealth index quintile when compared to the 1st quintile, i.e. the poorest households.
38 39 On the other hand, the subgroup analysis is based on a comparison between trials; it is not robust across statistical analyses (the effect did not appear in the univariable analysis but only in the meta-regression, and the meta-regression is at high risk of over-fitting—six trials account for 92.5% of the weight), and was not prespecified; the apparent reduction in mortality with GLP-1 is both small and of borderline significance.
All the adjusted HRs above were accounted for smoking-alcohol interaction Significant trends suggesting increased risk with daily smoking amount (p for trend = 0.01) and cumulative consumption (pack-years) (p for trend = 0.01) were observed in the adjusted HRs of Model 1, but the trend was of borderline significance for smoking duration (p for trend = 0.06) (Table 2 , Model 1).
