We made further important observations regarding the WHRadjBMI-derived variants: (iv) All 53 WHRadjBMI-derived variants had nominally significant effects on WHR ( P WHR < 0.05, i.e., no spurious associations, weakest WHR association observed in GIANT P WHR = 7.5 × 10 −3 , Supplementary Data 1 ).
Excerpts
a positive trendgold
Finally, for both the number of persons affected and monetary losses adjusted for inflation, a positive trend is observed over all periods of record.
a negative trendgold
In contrast, the number of fatalities is available for almost all flood events in the database and a negative trend of at least 1% per year is observed, even though it is only statistically significant for the period between 1950 and 2016 (see Methods section for statistical significance testing procedure).
Moreover, the normalized monetary value of losses after gap-filling no longer shows a significant trend for the whole period, and losses normalized by wealth increase by only 0.2% per year, while normalized by GDP decline by 0.1% per year.
Despite this, we observed only a modest (though highly significant) effect; intelligibility in mixtures clearly does not completely fall apart.
In this regression, the TCGA eQTL, coding transcript and ERG transcription factor annotations were all highly significant after adjusting for multiple testing, whilst the AR transcription factor annotation was also nominally significant (Supplementary Fig. 5 ).
We note, however, that we did observe nominally significant associations with several previously reported and newly identified POAG risk loci in this group.
We did not observe a major effect of USP48 depletion on RPA chromatinization upon induction of camptothecin (CPT)-induced replication stress, although a marginally significant increase of RPA foci was evident when both USP48 and FANCC were depleted compared to when FANCC was depleted alone (Supplementary Fig. 5e ).
However, mAb treatment tended to oppose age-related changes in 30 of these metabolites (22 marginally significant after FDR correction), including a reduction in the age-related rise of many glycerophospholipids, and a distinct clustering of metabolites from heart tissue in Old Con versus Old mAb-treated animals by PCA (Supplementary Fig. 5 ), resulting in a more youthful metabolomic signature in heart.
By focusing on interactions in regions of borderline significant genetic associations, we were able to identify potentially physiologically relevant target genes of GWAS SNPs through functional rather than proximity considerations.
Similarly, human MDMs in which NOD2 was silenced showed a trend towards an increased phagocytosis (Fig. 8e ).
A 30% reduction in [MTX] brain/plasma was observed in response to TY-52156, a statistical trend (Supplementary Fig. 10 ).
If Dx had an effect size that is comparable to the effect of gene then that effect would be detected by our model-based inference, since the effect of gene is highly significant.
Signal C, while exhibiting comparable total ASR between the two haplotypes, had more hQTLs with highly significant CHT p -values coming from the HLA-DR3 haplotype compared to the HLA-DR15 haplotype ( N = 261 vs.
Staining for Synaptobrevin-2, Syntaxin-1, and Munc18-1 showed a trend towards reduced intensity (19.3, 16.4, and 10.4%, respectively, not significant).
Defects in PHR1 and YJL218W result in a minor increase in GCR patch score in the sGCR assay, which is of borderline significance, and no increase in the dGCR and uGCR assays 6 .
In each site, linear regression analysis revealed positive correlations between phenol oxidase activity and pore-water phenolic concentrations although they were marginally significant in Yong and Mujechi peatlands (Table 2 ), indicating that phenol oxidase activity indeed is associated with the release of phenolic materials from peat soils.
Highly significant is the much larger distance between the chiral GNR building blocks inducing the bulk N*-LC helical arrangement with a spatially constant helical pitch compared to any other chiral additive reported to date.
However, an interesting trend in the response is observed with respect to the relative Molar quantities of PMA and LA in the sensor.
P335L revealed no significant phenotype in this assay, but showed a trend toward increased activity (Fig. 2d–g and Supplementary Fig.
Discussion We identified a highly significant association between a coding variant in the manganese transporter SLC39A8 and risk of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
a strong trendgold
We observed a strong trend in the consistency between the DREBIC score-based ranking and the actual experimental data, suggesting that DREBIC captures the inherent biological response of various cancer cell lines (Fig. 4e ).
After adjustment for rs4268748, expression levels of CDK10 in non-sun-exposed skin and FANCA in LCLs retained borderline significance for association with cSCC, with nominal association P -values of 0.0026 and 0.0025, respectively (Table 2 and Supplementary Table 10 ).
Here we find that men actually decrease their competition entry rates in HIGH compared to NEUTRAL, the difference however being only marginally significant.
The difference was highly significant (Supplementary Table 2 ) between the two groups under all three conditions, suggesting that RBS affinity towards the initiating ribosomes is a key determinant for TE.
