The neural response to the checkerboard rings also exhibited a decreasing trend as the eccentricities increased; the central 3 rings covered the visual field of 8° eccentricities, and the peripheral 5 rings covered the visual field of 8°–60° eccentricities ( Figure 7B ).
Excerpts
Because we were mainly interested in the mean coefficient values, and we obtained highly significant coefficients, controlling for phylogeny would not have improved our analyses.
We found significant increasing trends in phosphate and nitrate, and a decreasing trend in apparent oxygen utilization (AOU) in intermediate water (neutral density = 27.8–28.1 kgm −3 ) south of the polar front.
In any event, both of these P values are less than 0.01, showing highly significant associations between the concentration of miRNAs and the percentage of probe-STV-QDs complexes displacement.
Our previous analysis with the same data suggested the interaction of smoking and asbestos exposure though marginally statistically significant (possibly due to a small number of non-smokers) [23] .
The criterion for statistical significance between the groups was as follows: p value <0.05 was considered significant and marked as *, <0.01 as highly significant and marked as **, <0.001 as very highly significant and marked as ***.
a clear trendgold
Our results show that the TPN does not display differences across the sampled areas ( Figure 3c ); however, it does show a clear trend with depth ( Figure 3d ), as a bell shaped distribution with maxima at 2,000 m in depth, as already described for other deep-sea fauna [ 75 , 80 ].
In our study, the viral load was treated as a continuous variable and, despite being marginally significant in the bivariate analysis, it was considered to be relevant in the discriminant model.
Multivariate analysis showed that the odds ratio for weaning success remained significant for hemoglobin levels of 8–10 g/dL (adjusted OR, 3.3; 95% CI, 1.07–10.15) with borderline significance for hemoglobin level > 10 g/dL (adjusted OR, 2.95, 95% CI, 0.88–9.96).
After Bonferroni correction, only rs4305 and rs3802230 were still significant, the other 4 SNPs were marginally significant.

Lastly, grip strength correlated inversely with serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, TGFB1 and MMP2, and showed a strong trend towards correlating with serum CTGF levels.
However, the NOD2 rs9302752A/G variant was not in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in Indian clinically classified leprosy patients and marginally significant in control group.
The indicator of a significant trend was the P -value of the regression coefficient (β for step length and c for step width).
These results indicate a highly significant association between the mutation and disease (P Fisher = 1.4×10 −8 ) when comparing genotyped homozygous affected dogs (n = 6) and dogs free of PRA using Fisher’s exact test.
Patients with a psychiatric disorder and a history of severe symptoms (indicated by referral to the central mental hospital) showed a trend towards being more likely to have been tested for HIV compared to patients without referral (OR 2.3; CI = 0.96–5.91).
Although these latter results were only marginally significant and should therefore be interpreted with caution, they may provide some insight into past research that has confounded exclusive self-interest with actions that benefit one’s self while actively harming another party [2] , [3] .
BMI at booking was higher in the women with T1DM, this difference was approaching significance.
Although there were differences between the different religions when examining their relationship with ‘any smoking’, all religions showed a trend in the same direction.
GraphFusion was outperformed with large margin ( Figure 4 ), and the gain compared to sgSVM(meta) was still weakly/moderately significant ( for ovarian and for prostate cancer; Wilcoxon signed rank test).
Although the prevalence and pattern of ADEs vary depending on the patient population, settings, ADE definitions, and methods [4] , the burden of ADEs is also likely to be significant in other geographical areas.
All conditions that are not strictly significant are within 0.04 of the absolute critical value of R (0.57 for L 1.5 and S in ST, 0.56 for T in ST, 0.55 for CCW in ST, −0.56 for L 1.5 in HO, −0.54 for I 1.5 in HO).
The correct prediction rate ranged from 52% to 71% depending on the cell type, with highly significant p-values compared to random predictions.
To examine the net effect of the number of patients assigned to an increasing dose response, for instance, in scenario 2, the toxic rates are constant across the various doses, while the response rates exhibit an increasing trend from 20% to 60%.
Congregate HF was associated with a marginally significant reduction in sentences compared to treatment as usual (Adjusted IRR = 0.55; 95% CI: 0.26–1.14).
Cochran-Armitage linear trend test ( P = 0.0029, Z = −2.97) indicated an increasing trend of G-201A frequency among the groups ( Table 2 ).
