After excluding all of these animals from the analysis (‘MHC adjustment’), survival times were no longer significantly different between the two c.13G>A genotypes (log-rank χ 2 = 4.14, 1 d.f., p = 0.077) but still showed a trend towards longer survival being associated with c.13G ( Fig. 1B ).

However, the treatment efficacy of DEF201 in these unrelated viruses indicates real potential as a broad spectrum antiviral, and the extrapolation of these treatment windows into the clinical scenario may be significant.
