A strong trend towards higher MBL levels in patients with an unfavorable recovery within 90 days after admission (defined as a BI score of > = 95%) could be observed as compared to individuals with a favorable outcome (median MBL levels 1754 vs. 1270 ng/ml, p = 0⋅06), which was significant in the multivariate analysis (OR 1.26, 95% CI 1.04–1.54, for every 1000 ng/ml increase, p = 0.02).
It is worth mentioning that for glucose and insulin, the association detailed in this cohort shows borderline significance and type 2 error cannot be excluded.
Most individual studies did not have sufficient statistical power to detect a significant effect, but after pooling of the studies the effect size became highly significant.
The CDKN2A ex2 primer/probe set detects highly significant hypermethylation in a CpG island in exon 2 of CDKN2A in lung adenocarcinoma vs. adjacent non-tumor lung, showing more highly significant differences than probes for upstream CpG islands [36] .
Strikingly, the predictive value of this stromal marker was highly significant in patients who had not developed metastasis suggesting that it could constitute a high risk marker in this patient population.
For rayadito, we only found a marginally significant relationship between bird density and distance to nearest neighbor (DIST), in a best model that also included two non-significant variables, patch size (AREA) and number of flowers (FLOWERS) ( Table 1 ).
In CA1-mPFC, R3&4 showed a strong trend and R5&6 proved significantly lower than R1&2 (p<0.05; correlation values: R1&2: 0.17±0.1; R3&4: 0.15±0.1; R5&6: 0.13±0.1), while E1&2 did not differ from the initial retrieval sessions (E1&2: 0.15±0.1).
Interestingly, for these traits with significant heterosis, the performance of F 1 was significantly higher than the mean of the F 2 population and higher than the mean of the DH population in 19 and all of the 25 trait-environment combinations respectively, which showed an obvious trend of inbreeding depression.
Males showed significantly higher proportions of medium stained cells in the posterior ventrolateral zone (F 1,55 8.6, p0.005) and a strong trend in the posterior dorsomedial zone (p0.059).
found a negative trend in HRQOL with frailty, as measured by the Study of Osteoporotic Fractures for the dimensions of health, independence, home and neighborhood, psychological and emotional well-being, and leisure, activities and religion, in a cross-sectional study of 239 community-dwelling outpatients referred to a geriatric medicine clinic [13] .
We found a marginal trend towards a decreased preference for the matched shoal over the unmatched one at higher predation risks for both small and large fish, suggesting that as risk increases, the oddity effect decreases in importance, and instead, simply being in any group is important.
Two SNPs, rs10756819 (OR = 1.48, p = 0.025) and rs12379183 (OR = 1.46, p = 0.046), showed a significant association with an abnormal TVU result at any time during follow up, while two other SNPs, rs3814113 and rs7861573, showed marginally significant results.
At later time points, these capillaries also regulated their permeability much more tightly than their fibroblast counterparts, with highly significant decreases of 68% and 77% in the red:green fluorescence ratios by day 14 for the MSC-mediated capillaries and the AdSC-mediated capillaries, respectively, relative to the fibroblast controls.
With regard to effector cytokines, stimulation of CD4 + T E/EM cells from protected subjects with CSP peptides induced TNF-α secretion and once again both the frequency (highly significant) and the number (strong trend) of these TNF-α-producing CD4 + T E/EM cells were higher for protected vs. non-protected volunteers.
Pre-exposure of DCs to IL-1β and IL-12 had only a modest effect on Foxp3− expressing T cells; however, T cells activated in the absence of DCs but in the presence of IL-1β or IL-12 showed highly significant increase and decrease in Foxp3+ T cell frequencies respectively suggesting direct effects of these cytokines on T cells and a role for IL-1β in promoting Foxp3 expression.
The c coefficient (ensemble) obtained was 3.7±0.3, which, being far from 1, indicates that there also might be significant passive structural anisotropy along the orthogonal short-axes of the cardiomyocyte.
Stage III: Confirmation of associations between eQTL SNPs and QTs in twin cohort In Stage III, nominally significant eQTL SNPs and those in LD (r 2 >0.8) were tested for association with the QTs with which the relevant expression probes were previously correlated (Stage I), in the larger cohort of 2,905 female twins ( Figure 1 ).
It may be significant that this outlier subject had high numbers of eosinophils in the blood and also had increased eosinophil granule proteins in the skin.
