As the largest land cover type in Guangdong, forest land showed a decreasing trend over the study period, with a declining rate of 1.61%.

Cold germination tests While no statistically significant differences in cold germination were measured at 4, 7 or 10 days, there was a clear trend for the plasma treated seeds to have a higher germination rate than the control at 4 days germination (Fig. 4A ).

Interestingly, lymph node hyperplasia from mice sensitized with the highest dose of venom proteins (100 μg) was not statistically different from the negative control, although a clear trend is apparent (Fig. 7 ).

However, a pronounced trend can be seen in the amplitude of the signal, and this is further emphasised in Fig. 7 , where it is seen that the amplitude of the mean 2D-FT for each hour increases steadily from midnight, peaks at 2 pm and decreases again until 11 pm.

A decreasing trend in soil C levels was noticed with the increase in soil depth in all the soil types (SI Tables 2–4).

Non-targeted analysis of biomolecules still is an important trend in the field of “omics” including proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics and metabolomics 15 .
