We consider this a marginal significance level.
While no SNPs were above the chosen LOD threshold (3.5) for RTI_FS, those with marginal significance include 2_20734 (LOD=3.4, MAF=10.3%), 2_13286 (LOD=3.4, MAF=10.3%), 2_13285 (LOD=3.4, MAF=10.3%), 2_44170 (LOD=3.4, MAF=10.3%), and 2_47221 (LOD=3.4, MAF=10.3%).
However, biological effects may be difficult to discern when considering only the methylation status of individual genes as it may be the combined effects of multiple genes that is critical in development of traits, which may explain the marginal significance of disease association for TUSC3 .
However, due to the current limited sample size, the statistical power would be inadequate, as shown by the aforementioned marginal significance even in the only positive association between HAMD17 and DAO after the Bonferroni correction in the sample of the 305 chronic medicated patients.
Hence, it is proposed that although the sperm DFI carries considerable relevance in evaluating male fertility, it exhibits merely marginal significance in predicting pregnancy outcomes following ART treatments.
Furthermore, recent progress in data mining, high throughput data generation relative to gene, protein, and metabolic networks, as well as computer simulations of protein–protein interactions [ 4 , 6 ], offers a new and very attractive opportunity to identify those proteins that would have marginal significance in normal cells but would become signaling hubs in cancer cells.
∆TIB-variability mediated this association with marginal significance (see Table 3 ).
The importance of the predictors in the RDA model was assessed using the marginal significance (F) of the explanatory variables (by the Monte Carlo permutation test with 999 permutations) and the variance partitioning based on the adjusted R 2 .
In a multivariate Cox regression analysis model association of higher ePVS with increased thrombotic risk (HR 3.22, P=0.019) was present independently of WBC (HR 1.02, P=0.003), whereas JAK2 mutational status (HR 2.74, P=0.080) and cardiovascular risk factors (HR 7.12, P=0.060) retained marginal significance.
However, only one post hoc comparison reached marginal significance among risky rats, likely due to the relatively low number of risk-preferring rats for some task variants.
Reporting marginal significance in statistical analysis is important because marginally significant results can still provide valuable information, contribute to the body of evidence, and help refine theories or inform future research [ 43 , 44 ].
In particular, rates of reoperation, implant failure, and neurological deficit were higher with marginal significance in patients with 10°–30° mild scoliosis than with > 30° scoliosis, indicating technically demanding surgery for 10°–30° mild scoliosis but with a short-segment, sharp coronal curve.
