Of the 32 cases of significant changes in diversity that we detected, 28 corresponded to significant clonal expansions/contractions, the 4 others being borderline significant for clonal expansions/contractions.

2d ), miR-204 and miR-148a were confirmed by quantitative PCR (qPCR), with a strong trend for miR-9 ( Supplementary Fig. 2e ).

Immunofluorescence staining indicated that mediastinal FALCs of naive Il1rl1 −/− mice are smaller than their BALB/c counterparts, flow cytometric analysis of digested pericardial FALCs showed a trend for fewer cells in the mediastinal adipose but this did not reach significance ( Fig. 3b ).

Thus, our 3C–PCR studies showed a nonsignificant trend towards increased interaction frequencies for Gad1-Myo3a/Gad2 and a significant decrease in Gad1 -TSS (−55kb) Loop in PFC of ‘TIME B' mice previously exposed to MK-801 ( Fig. 4c ).

Mice given the lower dose of rGDF11 (0.1 mg kg −1 ) also showed a trend of decreased trabecular bone volume, although it was not statistically significant ( P =0.078).

This list was then curated based upon a set of criteria demanding the gene must be highly significant controlling for false discovery rate ( q <0.05), and differentially regulated at a fold change >2 0.5 ( Supplementary Fig. 3 ).

Importantly, LCN13 expression studies in this patient cohort revealed a highly significant correlation between Tsc22d4 and Lcn13 mRNA levels ( Supplementary Fig. 6a ), and demonstrated an overall lower expression of LCN13 in diabetic patients as compared with non-diabetic subjects ( Supplementary Fig. 6b ).

Although maximum-likelihood trees of repeats in each protein are not highly reliable due to the small size of the repeats, analysis of such trees across the proteome reveals a highly significant positive correlation between the physical and evolutionary distances, whereas a significant negative correlation is rarely observed ( Fig. 3c ).

Nevertheless, the circulating insulin levels in diabetic IL-1r −/− were significantly decreased compared with non-diabetic counterparts, while a strong trend towards decreased levels was found in diabetic Tlr2 −/− and Casp1 −/− mice, even though it was not statically different.

Oxygen alone had a highly significant negative effect on the production of N 2 O ( Fig. 4a , Supplementary Table 3 : M7 versus M6).

However, this is only an overall trend; the scatter is obvious even when the G values are plotted on a logarithmic scale ( Supplementary Fig. 2 ).

We performed this test in the cases of brain, liver and kidney cancers, where the univariate analyses found highly significant differences between the predictable and non-predictable groups ( Fig. 5a–c ).

This CSD pattern was highly significant and consistent across recordings ( Fig. 3h ; Supplementary Fig. 3a for an analysis based on cluster statistics).

All groups showed a weak trend for representing cumulative area in addition to number.

All four sites were sampled across a wide range of elevations from valleys to summits and show an overall trend of increasing simple exposure 10 Be age with altitude ( Fig. 2a ).

FN-EDB expression has been documented in several tumour types, including HNSCC 13 , 14 for which multivariate analysis showed a trend towards significant lower overall survival (OS) 15 .

Analysis of the average local treponemal burden revealed a slight trend towards increased T. pallidum DNA concentrations ( flaA copies per μg host tissue DNA) at the primary lesion sites of the three immunized animals compared with the two control unimmunized animals ( Fig. 3a ).

The transgenic mice also showed a trend towards improved glucose tolerance ( Fig. 9b ).

However, an examination of the electronic manifolds of 3Ce , 3U and 3Th reveals a common molecular orbital that may be significant.

In the resulting difference map, exactly one highly localized and highly significant (>7 σ ) density reduction was observed for the TRAPδ-deficient translocon, defining the position of the TRAPδ subunit in the TRAP complex ( Fig. 2c ).

However, a positive trend during this period may result from pre-industrial era anthropogenic activities 1 .

Then, an inflection point is located by calculating the cumulative sum of the gradient in Y t (δ Y /δ t ) and identifying the year when it exceeds zero (for a positive trend) or drops below zero (for a negative trend) for the remainder of the time series—we refer to this as the start of the climate change signal (see Supplementary Fig. 1 ).

Likewise cells expressing IGF1R/IR showed a strong trend toward increase in IGF-1-induced glycolysis rate (1.6-fold) and maximal glycolytic capacity (1.5-fold) compared to cells expressing IGF1R ( Fig. 1f,g ).

From each region we chose two or more SNPs for replication: the most significant SNP plus one or more additional SNPs and, where available, highly significant exonic variants.

Figure 1 shows that 307 of the 354 stations (or about 87% of all stations) show a negative trend in annual maximum SWE (SWE max ).
