Overall metabolites with consistent profiles between individuals were more likely to be significant at the group-level (Fig. 4D ), and metabolites that had either a wide range in acrophases for rhythmic metabolites, or opposing slope directions for linear metabolites, were not significant at the group-level, despite being significant in approximately half of the participants (Fig. 4E ).
We perform a Mann-Kendall trend test for the time series for each model and each scenario and we found that only model FGOALS-s2 in RCP2.6, RCP6.0, and RCP8.5 show a significantly positive trend, only model CESM1(CAM5) in RCP6.0 does not show a significant trend, and all other models in all four RCP scenarios show a significantly negative trend at a significance level of 0.05.
Order Effect The interaction between Version, Reading, and Order of Presentation was analysed: the comparisons of estimated marginal means showed a trend towards the versions performing better when presented later in the test (both the Conventional and the Modified Versions eliciting slightly fewer mistakes when the other version had been read first, and this trend being somewhat more marked in the second reading); however, no clear significance was attained in any specific pairwise comparison [all p s > 0.050].
