Assessment of cell counts and biochemical markers revealed a statistically significant negative association of baseline CRP (OR = 0.81, 95%CI: 0.63–0.98, p < 0.05) with CB6, as well as a negative trend for CAR (OR = 0.55, 95%CI: 0.24–1.02, p 0.06).
Additionally, Kaplan–Meier analysis showed a trend toward reduced overall survival in tumors with elevated PI3K–AKT pathway activity compared with AKT-low tumors, although this did not reach statistical significance (log-rank p = 0.093; Figure 7 C).
Over the past few decades, the widespread expansion of cross-sectional imaging—such as ultrasound and CT—has driven a steady increase in detected cases; as roughly 60% to 67% of RCC cases are diagnosed incidentally, a shift that has led to a notable trend toward the detection of smaller, lower-stage asymptomatic tumors [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ].
In the same context, the reduction in positive surgical margins (from 27% to 22%), combined with the decline in PSA persistence over time, suggests improved tumor localization, further experience with robotic platforms, and increasing operator experience, indicating a positive trend in surgical training and education at a national level.
Conversely, although not statistically significant, increasing age (OR 1.1, p = 0.096) showed a trend toward an increased risk of poor mobilization and consequent PLX use. 4.
For progression-free interval, the high-BiScore group also showed an unfavorable trend, although the difference did not reach statistical significance ( Figure 4 D, log-rank p = 0.076).
In this context, although several TRBV genes exhibited nominally significant differences between patient subgroups, only a restricted number remained significant after the Benjamini–Hochberg correction for multiple testing.
Other routine baseline variables, including age, diagnostic total hemoglobin concentration, WBC, platelet count, spleen size, liver size, sex, lymphadenopathy, and rash, did not show nominally significant differences between the two single-subtype groups.
With considerable differences in tumor biology between adult and pediatric cancers, there may be significant differences in the presence, function and behavior of TSC in pediatric malignancies.
studied the prognostic significance of induction of VM in cutaneous malignant melanoma and correlated melanoma metastasis in a 10-year follow-up study and concluded that presence of PAS-positive loops and networks were highly significant prognostic markers of metastasis in cutaneous melanoma [ 56 ].
More interestingly was the fact that in the setting of stable disease after 6 cycles, those treated with maintenance cetuximab compared with no-maintenance showed a trend, although non-significant, for longer TTP of 9.2 vs. 6.6 ( p = 0.10), and OS of 19.8 vs. 7.7 ( p = 0.22).
A second contemporaneous study, D9902A, in which enrollment was 44 discontinued early (N = 98), showed a trend towards improved survival, which did not reach statistical 45 significance. The treatment effect remained strong after performing adjustments for imbalances in baseline prognostic factors, post study treatment chemotherapy use, and non-prostate cancer-related deaths and suggested a favorable risk-benefit ratio for sipuleucel-T in patients with advanced prostate cancer [ 23 ].
The majority of cancer tissues displayed—often grossly— elevated levels of HOXC6 mRNA resulting in an overall highly significant difference compared to benign tissues ( Figure 1A ).
Subsequently, the authors combined RNAi against STAT3 and ErbB2 with irradiation in an U251 xenograft mouse model, which led to a highly significant inhibition of tumor growth compared to single RNAi treatment without toxic effects in normal astrocytes from the brain of Wistar rats [ 45 ].
[ 67 ] found that when comparing the highest and lowest tertiles, non-fasting serum insulin concentrations showed a trend, although not statistically significant at the 0.05 level, for a positive correlation with breast cancer mortality in postmenopausal (odds ratio, 1.9; 95% confidence interval, CI, 0.7–6.6, p trend = 0.10), but not premenopausal (odds ratio, 0.9; 95% CI, 0.3–2.9, p trend = 0.75) women.
Liver tumor tissues manifested significant decreases in SOD1 and CAT and, like lung, a highly significant increase in G6PD ( Figure 3 A and lower panels of Figure 3 C).
It has been proposed that cilengitide’s poor pharmacokinetics has ultimately led to its development being discontinued [ 70 , 78 ] although the observation that the pan-αv antagonist GLPG0187 was not effective as a monotherapy when delivered by continuous infusion suggests other factors, such as combination of integrins targeted, may be significant [ 79 ].
