In the ND-CJ group, Prevotella, Ruminococcus, and Bifidobacterium showed diurnal rhythmicity, with Prevotella and Ruminococcus peaking at night and Bifidobacterium reaching a trough at night, whereas Allobaculum and Dorea diurnal variation approached significance ( p = 0.057, p = 0.057).
Marginally significant differences between the presence of ehx A and the consumption of antibiotics was also observed (higher in those taking antibiotics, p = 0.057).
In these experiments, the initial bacterial community was the only statistically significant predictor of community similarity at the end of the experiment ( Table 3 ), but nutrient addition was nearly significant ( p = 0.058) and the interaction term between initial bacterial community and nutrients was significant ( p = 0.007).
The temperature effect was largely as predicted, with each 5°C increase creating a significant increase in Cmin (apart from 15°C and 20°C which was only a marginally significant difference; p = 0.059).
The group epiphyte/endophyte showed a trend toward higher relative abundance in green leaf areas compared to lesion areas ( p = 0.06), whereas no such difference was observed for biotrophic fungi ( p = 0.43).
For 5N culture, the differences in 18S rRNA gene copies were trending toward significance (Mann–Whitney: z (1 , 21) = 1.877, P = 0.060), and average 18S rRNA gene abundance was approximately 7-fold higher in the feces treatment relative to the cleaned treatment.
Although the effect of crop sequence was marginally significant ( p = 0.06) for the Shannon index in 2016, the effect of season was significant ( p < 0.01) and an interaction was observed between crop sequences and season in 2016 ( Table 1 ).
Results Overall, the evaluation of these samples revealed that the bacterial genera identified in the lung lavage samples of probiotic-fed calves as compared to the control calves were significantly different based on the OTU dataset ( p < 0.05) and approached significance for the ASV dataset ( p < 0.06).
However, the Log-Rank test between CHA0 and its Hcn-negative mutant CHA5103 was only nearly significant ( p = 0.06) (Figure 1C ) and for PCL1391 only a tendency for a longer kill-time, but no significant effects were found in oral infections (Figure 1D ).
As for the cells in the nearby buffer, the NO showed the same trend as observed for its effect on the surface biofilm, except when NO was at the flux of 0.3, it increased the number of dispersed cells in buffer than biofilm naturally dispersed (87%) and the difference was close to being significant ( p = 0.06).
Species with higher baseline MAA levels (measured in control samples at day 5) tended to experience smaller Y(II) decreases under UV-B exposure, as suggested by a negative trend with ΔY(II) ( ρ = −0.78; p ≈ 0.06–0.08).
In K-Means clustering, propionate levels differed significantly ( p = 0.010), with acetate showing a trend toward significance ( p = 0.06), while butyrate differences were not statistically significant.
The Spearman’s rank sum test revealed an inverse correlation between total SCFA concentration and HbA1c with approached significance ( r = −0.23, p = 0.06). 3.3.
PERMANOVA and the Mantel test showed a trend ( p = 0.06) in associating water cut with microbial community but did not reach statistical significance ( Supplementary Table S3 ).
