The minor allele of SORT1 rs646776 was associated with greater statin-induced reductions in levels of all LDL subfractions, and there was a nonsignificant trend for larger effect sizes and greater statistical significance for lowering of small and very small LDL ( Table 2 ).
Excerpts
Immunoblotting result showed a trend but not significant increase of NKCC1 expression ( Supplementary Figs 1 and 2 ).
Although these differences did not quite reach statistical significance due to the small numbers, they suggest that docetaxel resistance is twice as likely in TMPRSS2 ERG-positive CRPC than in TMPRSS2 ERG-negative prostate cancers.
In contrast, in the sibling analysis only one gene, EIF2C1 , was marginally significant ( Fig. 1a ).

Non-additivity of experimentally determined C 3 coefficients The C 3 coefficients determined with our approach show a clear trend of increasing with molecular size, that is, the per-atom molecule-surface interaction rises in the sequence NTCDA, PTCDA and TTCDA.
Both photosynthetic heterokonts tested, the diatom Phaeodactylum and pelagophyte Aureococcus , contained highly significant evidence of EGT compared with control genomes ( Table 1 ).
A highly significant restoration of blood flow was observed in control-treated groups, but not in the absence of the initial constriction response to cold ( Fig. 1d ).
Our model revealed highly significant interactions between stage of development and the age of each parent in determining offspring mass, which indicates that chick growth trajectories differed depending on both paternal and maternal age (chick age × parent age interactions; see Table 3 ).
These proteins appear to define a novel fold, as searches with DALI 43 did not reveal highly significant similarity of our models to experimentally-determined membrane protein structures (data not shown).
Nevertheless, we cannot exclude that insulin resistance could affect those organs at a later time since phosphorylation of IRβ is also significantly affected in skeletal muscle and there is an important trend towards reduced insulin-induced phosphorylation of IRβ in adipose tissue.
Although rs700635 is included on the list of potentially causative variants, it is not extremely well correlated with the index SNP rs13014235 ( r 2 =0.48) and rs13014235 retains a nominally significant BCC association signal when adjusted for the effect of rs700635 ( P adj =0.022, Supplementary Data 1 ).
1 Although the relationship between wood density and the contribution to stem abundance was marginally significant, it had very low explanatory power.
Second, for each strain we found highly significant partial correlations between Ribo-seq data and protein levels when we conditioned on RNA transcript levels ( Supplementary Table 1 ).
From an even broader perspective, the relative SST parameter (typhoon basin SST with respect to global, tropical mean SST) 35 36 also showed a decreasing trend, supporting the decline in topical cyclone (TC) activity in the recent decade (other details see Supplementary Figs 7 and 8 ).

It should be noted that due to the competing and offsetting impacts between typhoon duration/frequency and intensity, and between ocean and atmosphere, it was not possible for PDI to exhibit a clear trend because it was the residual result from opposing and competing contributors.
* P <0.05 was considered statistically significant and ** P <0.01 as highly significant.
On the basis of the P values obtained from the Wilcoxon test, we reclassified the hits as follows—‘high confidence', if Wilcoxon test P <0.05 (significant); ‘medium confidence', if Wilcoxon test P =0.057 (borderline significant); and ‘low confidence' (not significant), if Wilcoxon test P >0.057.

Importantly, a clear trend is observed that the normalized integrated EL intensity increases with the increasing flake thickness ( Fig. 5b ), which might be attributed to at least two factors.
Thus, radiocarbon ventilation reconstructions from throughout the mid-depth (∼500–1,500 m) and deep (>1,500 m) Pacific are in apparent conflict, with some indicating very little or no change in radiocarbon ventilation between the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and the pre-industrial period 3 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 , some indicating transient anomalies of varying magnitude and sense 14 15 16 17 , and with others showing quite significant changes, expressed as a net change between the LGM and the pre-industrial 18 19 20 21 or as a positive anomaly in the deglaciation 22 23 24 25 ( Table 1 ).
Marginally significant terms (Benjamini FDR>0.05) are shown in gray.
From the distribution of natural trends, one can directly obtain the significance S of an observed trend as well as the minimum external contribution unrelated to any natural fluctuation (for a given level of confidence).
At all sites, modelled WTD was a highly significant predictor of observed WTD, with 47–65% variation explained ( Fig. 2 ).
It should be noted that the changes in kinetics and force due to HCM and DCM mutations are often very small (in the 10–50% range) but highly significant; thus, small differences between large animals, such as porcine, will be extremely important in the context of HCM and DCM, and it is critically important to use the very same protein as in this work.
The H/L cross peak amplitude shows only an increasing trend.
No evidence for BeCyclOp-mediated cAMP generation was found ( N =4), although illuminated samples showed a trend to increased cAMP.
