Whereas a highly significant positive correlation between the both parameters was found among controls, partial r = 0.434, p one-sided = .007, there was no linear relationship between vitamin D and physical performance in athletes, partial r = 0.033, p one-sided = .414 ( Fig 4 ).

Discussion We found that the mating tactic performed by a male crab as a female approaches his burrow has a significant effect on the probability that the female will enter the burrow and a marginally significant effect on whether she will remain in the burrow to mate.

In Fig 4 , the speedup ratio follows an increasing trend as the number of calculating nodes increases, and increased data size results in an increased magnitude of the speedup ratio.

In both forest plots the presence of a large summed basal area of annular trees is associated with a highly significant slowing of growth of small focal trees ( Fig 2 ).

We have pooled information from all of the tree species in the BCI or in the Sinharaja plots in our initial analyses, in order to maximize the likelihood of detecting even weakly significant relationships between the properties of focal and annular trees.

The correlation between both is highly significant (p***), with an estimated value of r = 0.70 and a confidence interval [0.64, 0.75].

No significant associations were observed in the meta analyses including the African American cohort though associations of the minor alleles of rs1525892 (P = 0.05), rs1867504 (P = 0.06) and rs 3811647 (P = 0.05) in TF and rs10421768 in HAMP (P = 0.06) with ferritin concentrations were nearly significant ( S1 Table ).

However, the association between maternal self-transcendence and pregnancy duration was significant for both gestational length and risk of preterm birth, and the association between paternal self-transcendence and pregnancy duration was highly significant, suggesting a true relationship.

With respect to SLE, significant increase of 14bp ins allele was observed in a study from Italy [ 17 ], and although other studies in South American [ 18 – 21 ] and Asian [ 22 ] populations did not reach statistical significance, many of them showed a trend toward increase in 14bp ins allele frequency and/or association with clinical subsets, and meta-analyses reported significant association with susceptibility to SLE [ 21 , 23 , 24 ].

However, it should be noted that six strains (excluding the three outermost calcite Sr:Ca of strains AC474, SA and NZEH) follow a positive trend of increasing calcite Sr:Ca along with increasing growth rate, as previously described by Stoll et al .

It is obvious that both temperature and precipitation show an increasing trend, indicating that the climate is becoming warmer and wetter in the study area, in line with the common trend in the arid region of northwest China [ 13 ] and the GCM projections in the HRB [ 30 , 75 ].

Discussion The highly significant differences in the accuracies of sketch maps, distance and walking time estimations, which all depend on whether or not the buildings involved in the estimation are on the same sub-map or on different sub-maps, substantiate the claim that the structures uncovered by this method are indeed relevant, and play a significant role in multiple cognitive mechanisms.

TNF-α, as a potent cytokine promoting IBD, showed a trend of rise in serum of UC patients.

Although the growth behavior, in terms of projected plant area (all types), is similar to wheat in the sense of increasing with time, in contrast to the wheat experiment, the analysis reveals a decreasing trend in senescence of one plant and a semi-steady, but fluctuating behavior for the other plant.

Correlations across locations/years among the FHB parameters from spray/spawn experiments were all highly significant ( Table 2 ).

Its catalase activity showed a trend of rising first and then falling when exposed to 5–50 mM H 2 O 2 ( Fig 4A ).

Three subgroups of fungi can be seen from the PCA plot: BSS11, BSL12, BSS13, BSS5, BSS14, L2, BSL2-1, B3 and BSS7 were observed in group one; BSPDB and BSL11 were observed in group two; and BSL10 and BSS17 were observed in the out-group with a highly significant potential for enzyme production ( Fig 4 ).
