The trial was terminated early following a futility analysis, but there was a numerical trend favoring birtamimab in the analysis of the primary composite end point of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular hospitalization in the overall population and it was hypothesized to be driven by a treatment effect in the most advanced patients (Mayo stage IV).

In phase 2, another machine learning model (random forest) appeared to show a numerical trend in improving the diagnostic performance of serum BDG and PCT alone by exploiting additional nonspecific markers, although only minimally and not in a clinically significant way [ 13 ].

ICU-ROX demonstrated substantial subgroup variation: patients with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) showed a numerical trend favoring conservative oxygen therapy (180-day mortality 43% vs. 59%, relative risk=0.73), whereas patients with sepsis experienced lower mortality with liberal oxygen therapy (180-day mortality 33.1% vs . 36.2%).

In our cohort, the prevalence of prior cardiac and aortic surgery was notably high across all BMI categories, with a numerical trend toward more prior aortic interventions in lower-weight patients.

Results There were 2307 PPPs resulted during the study period with a numerical trend of increasing use over time.

Although the incidence of anastomotic leakage did not differ significantly among groups ( p = 0.272), a numerical trend was noted: the rate was highest in SSA (5.8%, 4/69), lowest in TCA (0%, 0/36), and intermediate in CAA (2.4%, 1/42).

These results suggest that while there is a numerical trend toward higher inflammatory burden at advanced stages, the differences were not statistically significant in this cohort.

Although not statistically significant (p = 0.051), there was a numerical trend toward higher 30-day mortality in patients who received inappropriate initial antimicrobial therapy (OR, 7.22, 95%CI 0.74-107.88) (Table 5 ).

Over the 3 phases, there was a numerical trend towards a slightly better accuracy from 23.6% to 28.0%—which was also observed within the two subgroups (residents and oncologists)—which however lacked statistical significance in all subgroups (see table 2 ).
